One person arrested after accident on 5th Street

Shortly before midnight on July 4thth Plymouth Police responded to a car crash on Fifth Street near Adams Street.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, Tami Martinez, 50, of Pearl Street in Plymouth, was intoxicated. During officers’ investigation, it was determined that Martinez had a blood alcohol level over .355, which was four times the legal limit.

Tami Martinez was transported to the hospital for jail release before being taken to the Marshall County Jail. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while intoxicated (over .15).

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only a reasonable suspicion to believe that a crime has been committed. Defendants are presumed innocent throughout the trial and are entitled to legal representation and a jury trial, where the State is required to present evidence beyond a reasonable doubt before a verdict of guilt can be entered.
