Woman shot, three family members injured in night attack

Unnao (UP): A 48-year-old woman was shot dead at home in the early hours of Monday while her husband and two other family members were injured when a young man and two accomplices broke in and attacked them, police said. They said the 22-year-old attacker, Anurag Pal, later shot himself with a homemade pistol. While locals claimed Pal had feelings for the daughter of the woman killed in the attack, police said the exact cause could only be ascertained after an investigation.

The incident took place around 3 am in Godiyan Kheda village under Fatehpur Chaurasi police station limits. Deputy Superintendent of Police Prem Chandra said Phoolkumari (48), her husband Puttilal (53) and two other family members, including daughter Reshu, were rushed to hospital with injuries, but Phoolkumari died.

The condition of the rest was stable, he said. The official said Pal was later found dead near the village and a homemade pistol was lying next to him. Villagers claimed he committed suicide after the attack. Quoting Reshu, police said three people broke in when the two were sleeping on the roof, shot at them and attacked them with sharp weapons.
