Delhi man kidnapped and killed in Uttar Pradesh village for ‘raping and blackmailing’ minor | Delhi News

A 20-year-old man was allegedly abducted from his Delhi home over the weekend in Baghpat village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh by the relatives of a minor girl who claimed he raped and beat her to death.

Rajni Sharma, mother of Himanshu Sharma, filed the First Information Report (FIR) against eight persons, including the minor girl’s mother, at Baghpat Kotwali police station on Sunday. Two of the persons named in the FIR have been arrested so far, while the hunt for the remaining accused is on, police said.

“We have arrested two, Gopal and Sohanpal, and raids are being conducted to nab the others,” said Harish Bhadauria, deputy superintendent of police, Baghpat.

The accused alleged that Himanshu Sharma, a resident of Kartar Nagar in northeast Delhi’s Shahdara area, raped and blackmailed her 14-year-old niece on June 27.

“We have filed the complaint and arrested two persons in this connection. We are investigating the allegations made in the complaint while the body has been handed over to the mother of the deceased after post-mortem,” said Sanjeev Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Baghpat Kotwali police station.

Festive offer

Anil Kumar Sharma, Himanshu’s uncle, said his nephew was kidnapped on Saturday by Ajay Pal, who lives in his neighbourhood, and his relatives

“Ajay’s mother Sundari informed us that Himanshu had been killed and his body was lying in the forest in Baghpat village. We rushed to the village with Sundari and on reaching there, we found Himanshu semi-conscious in the forest near Pabti Shamsabad village. We immediately rushed him to the local hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said Anil Kumar Sharma.

Himanshu’s mother Rajni and others accompanying her had created a ruckus in Baghpat Kotwali on Sunday morning, claiming that the local police were protecting the culprits and threatening to stage a protest if those responsible for their son’s murder were not arrested soon.

“We contacted the police in Usmanpur village on Saturday evening after finding no trace of Himanshu late on Saturday night, but they refused to file a complaint,” Anil Kumar Sharma said.
