One dead and one seriously injured in car crash in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash in Walton County.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said the crash occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 10 near mile marker 93. The crash involved a 27-year-old driver from Santa Rosa Beach and a 22-year-old passenger from DeFuniak Springs, officials said.

According to a news release, a red GMC pickup truck was traveling eastbound when it lost control on the wet roadway. The vehicle left the road, rolled over and collided with a line of trees, FHP officials wrote.

The driver and passenger were taken to local hospitals.

Officials stated that the driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and the passenger suffered injuries that resulted in death.
