Nobody does it better when it comes to MLB picks!

Sale on the mound for Atlanta

Chris Sale will be the favorite Monday night. Sale was outstanding once again in his last outing, holding the Giants to just one run in six innings, and was credited with a win. The veteran ace has been dominant, allowing just one run in three of his last four outings, and has posted a 2.71 ERA and 0.91 WHIP while going 11-3 in 99.2 innings on the season. Sale allowed two runs in 5.2 innings against the Diamondbacks earlier this season and has held Arizona to three runs while going 2-0 in 10.2 innings for his career.

Atlanta has lost two of its last four series. The Red Devils have not been able to generate consistent offense. They lost two of three games to the Giants last week and bounced back with a big home series against the Phillies last weekend, powered by the bats. They scored 18 runs and allowed nine. The Braves are .500 with two more road games.

Marcell Ozuna continues to shine, hitting two home runs with five RBIs on the month. The veteran slugger is having a marvelous season, hitting 23 home runs with 72 RBIs and a .943 OPS. Ozuna had a big series against Arizona earlier this year, collecting five RBIs and a dazzling 1.3 OPS.

Atlanta is averaging 4.29 runs per game, which ranks 15th. Pitchers are averaging a 3.45 earned run average, which ranks second.

Arizona Promotes Yilber Diaz

The Diamondbacks promoted Yilber Diaz to make his MLB debut Monday night. Diaz had a mediocre minor league record, posting a 4.03 ERA and 1.24 WHIP and going 4-8 in 76 innings. The rookie has spent nearly four seasons in the minor leagues, posting a 4.43 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He is the Diamondbacks’ No. 16 prospect. The bullpen has been shaky this season, posting a 4.47 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.

Arizona opens a home series in this clash. The group is battling for the wild card. They are just two games out of a wild card spot. The Diamondbacks got a big road win against the Dodgers last week, powered by the bats, and have won two of three road games against the Padres before this series. They have scored 24 runs and given up 16. The group is one game over .500 at home.

Ketel Marte has been generating offense consistently, scoring five RBIs in his last eight games. The veteran second baseman is having another great season, hitting 17 homers with 51 RBIs and a solid .859 OPS. Marte has two homers, three RBIs and a dazzling 1.05 OPS against the Braves this season. He is questionable with a back injury.

Arizona is averaging 4.88 runs per game, which ranks seventh. Pitchers are averaging a 4.70 earned run average, which ranks 29th.

The Atlanta Braves have been inconsistent, winning just two of their last four series. They remain below .500 on the road. The Arizona Diamondbacks are playing with confidence. They have won four of their last five games, including a series win over the Dodgers last week and a series win in San Diego this weekend.

Additionally, Braves pitcher Chris Sale is solid, but the Braves are just 3-3 in their last six outings. Arizona has the hottest offense in the major leagues. They scored 25 runs in three games against the Dodgers last week, followed by 24 runs in three games against the Padres last weekend. Yilber Diaz is making his Diamondbacks debut. The rookie has a solid 3.27 ERA in Triple-A this season.

Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks +1.5

I expect a lot of runs. Atlanta piled up the runs against the Diamondbacks in the first series, racking up 20 runs in three games. The Braves will score runs as Yilber Diaz makes his MLB debut for Arizona. The Diamondbacks bullpen produced a low 4.48 ERA.

Additionally, Arizona has 15 runs in the series against the Braves. They are generating huge numbers, scoring five or more runs in eight of their last ten meetings. The most runs is a convincing 8-2 in the Diamondbacks’ last ten games.

Prediction: Over 8.5
