First Alert Weather: Observing the remains of Beryl

ROCHESTER, NY – Sunday morning will start with plenty of sunshine and temperatures around 15 degrees. Afternoon highs will again reach the mid-low 27 degrees, and unlike Saturday, it will stay dry with no rain in the forecast. As for the dew point, it won’t be as muggy as the last few days, but it will still be a little noticeable with dew point temperatures around 15 degrees.

The dry weather will continue on Monday as we will see partly cloudy skies with highs in the 90s in the afternoon. Most of Tuesday will also be dry with highs in the 90s, but a weakening cold front approaches late in the day with the possibility of an evening thunderstorm. Then on Wednesday we will keep an eye on the remnants of Beryl. For now we expect the remnants to move into our area Wednesday afternoon and stay through Thursday with persistent showers. Rain late Wednesday could be heavy at times depending on where the strongest rain axis forms and how slowly or quickly Beryl moves. A slower advance of Beryl would bring rain amounts of 1-2 inches with locally higher amounts, also bringing the risk of flooding. A faster advance of Beryl, however, would mean less rain, about 0.5-1 inch, and less of a flooding threat, if any.

We’ll know more once Beryl makes landfall late Sunday evening, so stay tuned for ongoing updates from the First Alert Weather Team.
