3 men killed in shooting near Downey homeless camp – Press Telegram

DOWNEY — Three men were killed in a weekend shooting near a homeless encampment in Southern California, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots in the dry riverbed of the Rio San Gabriel near the 105 Freeway in Downey shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, Downey police said in a statement.

They found three men with gunshot wounds. All three men died at the scene, the statement said.

The trigger for the shooting is still unclear, but police said it was “apparently an isolated incident.”

The shooting was investigated and anyone with information was asked to contact Downey Police.

ABC7 reported that the shooting occurred near a homeless encampment.
