Murder investigation underway at Rutledge State Prison in Columbus – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, a murder investigation is underway at Rutledge State Prison in Columbus.

Bryan confirmed that an inmate was found dead in his cell, which he shared with another inmate, at Jack Rutledge State Prison on Sunday afternoon.

Leon Habson, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:39 p.m. after being attacked by his roommate.

“The manner of death is undetermined at this time, as the GBI medical examiner in Decatur will be conducting an autopsy,” Bryan added. “Photographs and evidence collected at the scene confirm this was a homicide.”

The Georgia Department of Corrections and other agencies are investigating the case. This is the fourth murder this holiday weekend.
