Houston: Changes to waste, recycling and debris collection methods due to Beryl

With tropical storm force winds expected, residents are advised to secure their trash and recycling containers.

HOUSTON — The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department has announced service interruptions for Monday, July 8, due to high winds and heavy rain expected in Beryl. All services will be suspended, including storm debris, household trash, recycling, yard waste and tree waste collection operations.

Residents are advised to secure their garbage and recycling containers.

Houston Garbage Collection Schedule Changes

No collection services; all second-pass storm debris collection operations will be suspended; all solid waste management facilities and administrative offices will be closed.

Monday’s household trash, recyclables, yard waste and tree waste will be collected. Second-pass storm debris collections will resume. SWM will conduct citywide damage assessments from Beryl.

SWM will collect household waste, recyclables, yard waste and tree waste on Tuesday.

All SWM collection services will resume their regular schedule. Due to the high volume of tree waste, expect additional delays for the remainder of the week.
