One person is dead after being hit by a suspected drunk driver in Gray

One person is dead after being struck head-on by a car traveling in the oncoming lane in Gray. Authorities responded to a crash in the area of ​​Portland and Sugar Maple roads late Saturday night. The road was closed for hours while police reconstructed the crash. At this time, the driver, 43-year-old Jean Nshimiyimana of South Portland, was arrested on charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence. The name of the other driver, who died at the scene, has not been released by police. That driver had two minors in the car at the time of the crash, both of whom were taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Nshimiyimana is being held without bail in the Cumberland County Jail. Authorities are still investigating the crash but suspect speed and alcohol played a role.
