Monroe man allegedly robbed victim after online meeting and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint; suspect arrested | KTVE

WEST MONROE, Louisiana. (KTVE/KARD) — On July 6, 2024, officers with the West Monroe Police Department (WMPD) were called to the 300 block of Thompson Street to investigate an armed robbery. The victim was able to give officers a description of the suspect and indicate which direction he was headed.

According to the affidavit, officers were able to locate the victim and he identified himself as 24-year-old Charmon Hubbard. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Hubbard told officers that he had just left his apartment on South 5th Street where he had robbed someone. Additionally, the suspect admitted to having a handgun in his left pants pocket.

After searching Hubbard’s person, officers were able to locate the pistol in his left jacket pocket. Officers determined that the pistol was not loaded. West Monroe Police also confirmed that the pistol was stolen.

The suspect claimed he bought the gun on the street along with earbuds and a phone. The suspect was also found in possession of three other items that he took from the victim during the robbery.

Officers made contact with the victim on Thompson Street, who told them he had met Hubbard through a dating app. According to the victim, he was invited to Hubbard’s apartment at approximately 11:55 p.m.

The victim further testified that Hubbard pulled a gun from his pocket and demanded that the victim give him everything he had. Hubbard then put the gun to the victim’s head and forced him to perform oral sex.

While Hubbard was distracted, the victim was able to run out the back door and home to contact police. WMPD dispatch confirmed that Hubbard was a convicted felon. Hubbard was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Armed robbery
  • Illegal possession of stolen items
  • Illegal possession of stolen firearms
  • First degree rape
  • Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes

On July 5, 2024, a carjacking victim told authorities that his identity was used on a stolen cell phone to purchase a $1,100 iPhone from Amazon. West Monroe Police contacted Hubbard, who was in possession of the stolen cell phone.

Hubbard allegedly confessed to purchasing the phone using the Amazon account stored on the stolen phone. Hubbard was charged with identity theft worth over $1,000.
