IHIT dispatched to Hope to investigate suspicious death

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation into a suspicious death in Hope.

On Friday evening, Mounties responded to a report of a dead person on Old Hope Princeton Way.

“Police officers attended the scene and found the body of a 46-year-old man whose death appeared to be the result of homicide,” police said.

Investigators say the victim is a Chilliwack man, but his name is not being released until his family is notified.

“We are still at the beginning of our investigation,” said Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of the IHIT.

“We ask anyone who has information to come forward.”

The police assume that this was an isolated incident and that there was no danger to the public.
