DOWNEY, Calif. — Three men were killed in a weekend shooting near a homeless encampment in Southern California, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots in a dry riverbed near Interstate 105 in Downey shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, police said in a statement.

They found three men with gunshot wounds. All three men died at the scene, the statement said.

The trigger for the shooting is still unclear, but police said it was “apparently an isolated incident.”
