Family gives update on toddler involved in swimming pool incident in Arab | News

UPDATE: In a Facebook post Sunday, the family of a toddler involved in a swimming pool accident in Arab say they are taking the time to say goodbye.

Arab police said they received a call about a possible drowning at a home on Almond Drive around 7 p.m. Monday evening.

Two-year-old Violet Satterfield was taken to Marshall Medical for treatment and then flown by helicopter to Children’s of Birmingham.

In the Facebook post, Violet’s mother, Rebekah Satterfield, issued the following statement: “Violet’s temperature is finally back to normal. She has had two brain death exams, both of which did not go well. We have another exam tomorrow that is expected to go the same way. I can’t thank all of her prayer warriors enough for keeping her name in mind during these last horrific days. We are taking this time as a family to say goodbye. I am so sorry to have to deliver such bad news after all the encouraging words you all have showered on us.”

The community held a vigil for Violet in Arab on Tuesday.
