CT K-9 officer injured while escaping from stolen car and rams patrol car

A Bridgeport police dog was injured when a patrol car was hit by a stolen car during a chase on Sunday.

According to Bridgeport Police, the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a report of a vehicle theft at the corner of Frank Street and Madison Avenue around 1:50 p.m. Sunday.

The vehicle was observed by a sniffer dog before it rammed the patrol car, police said.

According to police, the officer suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

The vehicle then fled onto Route 8 North. Police said the pursuit was called off at Exit 12.

According to Bridgeport police, Derby police arrested the suspect and the vehicle around 3 p.m.
