Woman arrested after chase and accident in Gretna: GPD

GRETNA, Louisiana (WGNO) – A woman was arrested after a shoplifting report led to a chase and crash in Gretna on Sunday, July 7.

Officials with the Gretna Police Department said officers were responding to a shoplifting report on West Bank Expressway 64 when 41-year-old Lakisha Dooley got into her car and sped off, hitting several cars.


GPD officials said Dooley allegedly led police on a chase.

According to police, Louisiana State Police began assisting in the pursuit, which ended at the Crescent City Connection, where Dooley reportedly struck an LSP and GPD unit before crashing into an embankment.

Dooley’s car apparently caught fire after the accident. There were no injuries.

According to GPD, Dooley was arrested and faces several charges, including theft, assault on a police officer, eluding police and obstruction of justice.
