Carlos Correa ‘will play tomorrow’ despite his exit against the Astros

Twins shortstop Carlos Correa told reporters he’ll “play tomorrow” after Sunday’s 3-2 win over the Houston Astros, despite exiting the game after being hit in the right hand by a 96 mph fastball from Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti in the first inning at Target Field.

Despite being ruled out, initial tests did not reveal a fracture in Correa’s hand, and the Twins described Correa’s injury as a bruised right finger. For the second time in weeks, Correa avoided a scare after being hit in the hand by a pitch. And it appears Correa will be in the lineup Monday.

Do you have a feeling of déjà vu?

Correa also had to leave the field in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 27 after being hit by a pitch on his right wrist. But tests did not reveal a fracture at that time and Correa played again the next day.

It now appears Correa will hit a double in his return to the game after being hit by a pitch in a potentially scary situation. Twins fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the star shortstop is okay.
