Atlanta is most affordable travel destination, new study finds

ATLANTA — Everyone wants to travel during the summer, but some of us don’t have the financial resources to do it the way we’d like.

So if you’re on a budget, the ATL might be the summer vacation destination of your dreams, if you believe what a new study says.

The study compared 100 of the country’s largest metropolitan areas on 41 factors.

Ultimately, Atlanta’s cheap flights from major cities, diverse attractions and 4 a.m. “last call” earned it the top spot.

“The Atlanta metro area is the top summer travel destination, in part because the cheapest flights from major cities require no connections and can cost as little as $278,” the study said.

Augusta is the only other Georgia city to make the list, coming in at No. 28.

TRENDING STORIES:

Washington, DC, Orlando, Florida, Honolulu, Hawaii and Tampa, Florida rounded out the top five.

Santa Rosa, Calif., and Oxnard, Calif., come in at the bottom of the list.
