Buffalo National River Seeks Contributions to Improve Accessibility

The National Park Service hopes the public can report accessibility barriers in the park and how they can be addressed.

ARKANSAS, USA — Buffalo National River is seeking public input on a plan to improve accessibility for visitors with disabilities.

The Self-Assessment and Transition Plan (SETP) is meant to help the national park identify areas such as public structures, campsites, river access points, signage and services that can be improved.

The park hopes the public can provide input on where accessibility barriers exist in the park and how they can be addressed.

“By better understanding the needs of today’s visitors, the park can work to develop accessible solutions that meet the needs of the public,” said Park Director Angela Boyers. “Our goal is to provide recreational opportunities that everyone can enjoy.”

The public can share comments via the SETP document on the National Park Service’s Planning, Environment and Public Comment website between June 28 and July 31.

All comments, including those containing personally identifiable information, may be made public at any time. “While respondents may request that their comments and personal information not be released to the public, the park cannot guarantee that it will be able to do so,” a Buffalo National River news release said.
