Woman arrested in connection with shooting at Showbox SoDo

Seattle police arrested a woman Friday night for firing her gun at Showbox SoDo.

Investigators believe the suspect opened fire during a concert.

Upon arrival, investigators found a single shell casing, arrested the woman and recovered the weapon. Police say the suspected shooter was injured during the chaos and was treated at the scene. Investigators also arrested another woman on assault charges.

KIRO 7 found video of the shooting and spoke to the person who shot the video off-camera. He told KIRO 7 he couldn’t believe he caught it on film.

Our teams have shown the video to people across the area. Some were surprised and disheartened by it.

“Not here in Seattle, man. Come on. That’s not us,” said a man named Keith.

Some people KIRO 7 spoke to feel there is a growing gun problem across the country.

“If you’re in a situation where people are getting frustrated, angry or violent, then someone who has a gun is likely to pull it out. So it’s a gun problem,” said Dominique, who has attended several shows at the venue.

One of the biggest questions people have about the shooting is how someone could bring a gun into the venue. KIRO 7 has reached out to the venue for an answer but has not received a response.

“Whether it’s alcohol, other weapons, drugs, illegal substances … anything can get through. You might as well search everyone for weapons and everything else,” Keith said.
