Accident in Pearl River County claims one life

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WGNO) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one person dead in Pearl River County on Thursday, July 4.

The MHP reported that the accident occurred around 11:39 p.m. on Highway 13 in Pearl River County.

They said an investigation revealed that a 19-year-old was driving a Jeep south on Highway 13 while 23-year-old Jocelin Sanchez was driving a Toyota north. The Jeep then reportedly collided with the Toyota.

Sanchez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

MHP representatives said the investigation was still ongoing.
