Two soldiers of the military junta reportedly raped an underage girl in Tedim township, Chin state.

CDF CDM Siyin issued a statement on July 6 saying that after the junta troops left Kalay town for Chinland in six military trucks on the morning of July 5 and settled in Hmualbi village in Siyin land in Tedim township, they went to a nearby house and raped a young girl who was getting ready to cook in the kitchen.

“The other two girls managed to escape by running away during a riot while the junta troops entered the house and tried to gang rape them. Our military medical support group is taking responsibility for the victim’s safety. We are taking close care of her. We are taking care of her physical and mental health by giving her the necessary medicines, including emergency tablets.” A health assistant from CDF CDM Siyin told MPA. A resident of Hmualbi village said the person in charge of the column paid 2,000,000 MMK as compensation when the residents reported this case to him.

“The general of the military junta who led the column paid the victim’s mother 2,000,000 MMK in compensation,” he said.

Then CDF CDM Siyin said the column returned to Kalay town. It is said that the name of the battalion was not known because there was no badge on the uniforms of the junta soldiers who had raped. However, they were those in the military trucks at the headquarters of the military command center in Kalay town.

Although local residents reported the victim’s age as 12, the health assistant gave her age as 16. On the night of November 11, 2021, soldiers from the 22nd Infantry Division military junta entered Alawi village in Tedim town, Chin State and raped a 30-year-old pregnant woman and a 27-year-old breastfeeding woman right in front of their husbands.
