Forestport woman arrested for drug offenses

NEW HARTFORD, NY – A Forestport woman was arrested on drug charges after New Hartford police responded to suspicious activity in Sangertown Square.

On July 5 at approximately 2:00 a.m., during the investigation, a suspicious man climbed into dumpsters and attempted to enter the mall. Authorities stated that during the investigation, police discovered 27-year-old Nicole Lighthall sleeping in the driver’s seat of the Jeep, which was parked in the mall parking lot at the time.

While attempting to awaken Lighthall from her sleep, police officers discovered clearly visible traces of drugs.

After Lighthall was awakened by police and taken out of the vehicle, officers found a plastic bag containing fentanyl under Lighthall’s clothing.

Officers searched the vehicle and found approximately eleven grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Lighthall was arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.
  • 1 count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony.
  • 1 count of obstruction of governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor

Lighthall was arraigned and transported to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court.
