Teenager loses both legs in train accident, Rome police say

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Rome police say a teenager lost both legs in a train accident early Friday morning.

At around 3:30 a.m., police were called to the railroad crossing on E. Callahan Street, where they found the teenager unconscious. He had been hit by a train, and both of his legs were amputated.

Officers provided medical care to the teenager until emergency services arrived. He was taken to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, where he is still alive – “although the outlook is not very rosy,” police said.
