Assam: IFS officer Muanthang Tungnung suspended for violating transfer orders

Guwahati: Muanthang Tungnung, a 2000-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, has been suspended by the Government of Assam for failing to comply with transfer orders.

According to the order, Tungnung, who was serving as Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) for Dima Hasao District, was transferred as Field Director of Manas Tiger Reserve in February 2024.

However, the order states that Tungnung did not take up the new position.

He was subsequently relieved of his duties as CCF for Dima Hasao and his additional charge as CCF for Southern Assam Circle in March 2024.

The order further states that Tungnung violated government guidelines requiring civil servants to comply with transfer orders within one week of receiving them.

Citing improper conduct and violation of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, the government suspended Tungnung under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.

During his suspension, Tungnung will report to the Chief Forest Officer in Guwahati.
