Clayton Township man dies in fireworks accident

CLAYTON TWP., Michigan (FOX 2)The Fourth of July is over, but that doesn’t mean the spectacle and dangers of fireworks are over.

Fireworks continue to light up the skies, and firework-related accidents continue to occur.

One such accident occurred on July 4 in Clayton Township.

A large firework exploded near a 32-year-old man; he was pronounced dead a short time later at a home in the 1200 block of North Van Fleet Road.

Investigators said one of the tubes the man was using began to tip over. He reached to right it when the firework exploded, killing him.

Two days after the man’s death, his identity has still not been made public.
