“Respect us as human beings” • PhilSTAR Life

BIN Member Aiah Arceta released her own statement after her awkward public encounter in Cebu went viral.

Aiah shared a long message via Instagram stories about her recent trip to her hometown in the hopes of spending time with her loved ones, which she managed to do. She then shared that there were times when people approached her in her free time.

“Some walked right up to me, took a photo (even while I was eating), posted it in real time, used my face and posted it on pages or places without my consent to gain influence and publicity, and worse, some even posted my location in real time, which I don’t think is safe,” she wrote.

The girl group member clarified that she enjoys interacting with fans, but said she hopes fans “see and respect” BINI members as people.

“(I) just hope that people see and respect us as human beings too,” she said.

“We can’t always go out lately because we’re busy with work, and the least we can ask is that others respect our personal time and our humanity.”

Aiah ended her message by urging her followers to be kinder in words and actions. “I hope we can fill this world with love, respect and positivity.”

On July 5, BINI manager Laurenti Dyogi called for respect for the national girl group after some unpleasant encounters occurred in Cebu.

While at a bar, a male fan, later identified as AJ Fernan, got physically close to Aiah and appeared to take videos of her. The fan later shared that he apologized to the P-Pop idol.

Star Magic also released a opinion on July 4th to remind fans that unwanted acts or advances towards a woman in a public place can be considered gender-based sexual harassment on the street and in public spaces.

“We therefore ask everyone to respect the privacy of our talents. This is especially true during their free time,” it says.
