Swimmer found dead in Lake Norman on Saturday evening: Cornelius FD

CORNELIUS, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A swimmer was found dead after drowning in Lake Norman Saturday night, according to the Cornelius Fire Department.

On Saturday, July 6, at around 11 p.m., local police officers caught a man using drone-like equipment in the water.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, the Cornelius-Lemley Fire Department called the search a “drowning accident.” On Friday, the Huntersville Fire Department reported that rescue crews were back on the lake.

According to the Huntersville Fire and Medical Department, the incident occurred near the sandbar west of Bethel Church Road Peninsula.

His age and identity have not yet been released. Officials would like to thank local law enforcement and the public for their help in the search.
