Owensboro man arrested after police chase in stolen tow truck | News

OWENSBORO (WEVV) – An Owensboro man faces multiple charges in connection with a police chase in a stolen tow truck.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office announced in a press release that 30-year-old Wesley M. Wright faces 19 different charges for leading Kentucky State Police deputies and officers on a chase Saturday afternoon.

According to the press release, Owensboro Daviess County dispatch received information around 4:30 p.m. about a pickup truck that had been stolen earlier in the week and was located in the Rome section of Daviess County.

Officers found the tow truck and attempted to stop it on Keller Road. According to DCSO, Wright refused to stop and led officers toward Owensboro. The pursuit continued along Carter Road, South Town Blvd, Frederica Street, JR Miller Blvd and other streets. At one point, an officer who had just exited his car had to swerve to avoid the tow truck to protect himself.

A KSP trooper was also on hand to assist in the pursuit. Eventually, the tow truck turned onto the dead-end street of Quincy Court, where it eventually crashed the truck into a fence and a tree.

Wright got out of the truck and was chased on foot into the backyard of a home on Wesleyan Place. He resisted arrest and was tasered to take him into custody.

After being taken to the hospital, he was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with numerous counts, including eluding police, reckless endangerment, criminal damage to property, and resisting arrest.
