Investigations into arson at former Meadow View Swim Club underway

WESTMINSTER, MD—Authorities are investigating after two vacant wood-frame buildings formerly known as the Meadow View Swim Club were intentionally set on fire. The incident occurred at 10:29 a.m. Thursday at 3619 Littlestown Pike.

The Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company arrived on the scene, where approximately 50 firefighters managed to bring the fire under control within an hour. Although there were no smoke or fire alarms in the buildings, no injuries or deaths were reported.

The estimated damage to the buildings is $20,000. The fires were discovered by the property owner, Paula Fritz, and are currently under investigation. Through the use of K9 Blondie, it was determined that the fires were intentionally set by an unknown person or persons who had trespassed on the property.

Local authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Northeast Regional Office at 410-386-3050. The investigation is ongoing as the community seeks answers and justice for the deliberate act of arson.

  • Violent attack in Kingsbridge: Man injured in daylight

    BRONX, NY—A 27-year-old man was attacked and punched in the face outside 251 West Kingsbridge Road Saturday morning. At approximately 9:29 a.m., the attacker approached from behind, pulled out a knife and inflicted a facial wound on the victim.

    After the attack, the suspect fled on foot north on Bailey Avenue. Emergency responders responded quickly and the victim was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

    Police are currently actively searching for the suspect, who is described as a man of medium skin tone with a slim build and approximately 5’6″ tall. He was last seen wearing a black Levi’s logo t-shirt, black sweatpants, black Crocs and a black fanny pack. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to help apprehend the attacker.

  • Toddler seriously injured by fallen tree in Montgomery County

    GLENSIDE, PA—A tragic accident occurred Saturday night in Montgomery County, where a two-year-old child was seriously injured by a fallen tree. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. in the driveway of a residence in the 7900 block of Chandler Road in Glenside.

    The toddler, who was playing outside with other children, was struck by a tree that unexpectedly fell from a distance of 15 meters. Rescue workers performed life-saving aid on the scene and the child was subsequently flown by helicopter to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Due to the severity of the child’s injuries, the arm had to be amputated.

    Cheltenham Police, who are still investigating the circumstances of the crash, described the incident as a tragic accident and are urging anyone with information about the incident or who may have witnessed it to come forward.
