Suspect arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man Friday morning. The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 8:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Choctaw Road near Bogalusa after a man, later identified as Lark Starnes, 62, was reported dead behind his home. An initial investigation revealed Starnes suffered multiple gunshot wounds. On Friday evening, officers were searching for Clois Blackledge III as a person of interest in the case. The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office said the Honda motorcycle Blackledge was riding was last seen around 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Poole’s Bluff boat ramp in Bogalusa. Investigators returned to the boat ramp on Saturday and said they received reports that a man matching Blackledge’s description was walking along Highway 21. Officials said a member of the Louisiana State Police Unmanned Air Traffic Control System team contacted Blackledge at the intersection of Highway 21 and Mitchell Road and took him into custody for questioning. Blackledge is charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The investigation is ongoing.

According to WPSO, the Honda motorcycle Blackledge was riding was last seen at the Poole’s Bluff boat ramp in Bogalusa around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Investigators returned to the boat ramp on Saturday and said they received reports that a man matching Blackledge’s description was walking along Highway 21.

Officials said a member of the Louisiana State Police Unmanned Air Traffic Control System team made contact with Blackledge at the intersection of Highway 21 and Mitchell Road and he was subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

Blackledge is charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

This is an ongoing investigation.
