NFL star Khyree Jackson’s destroyed car is photographed for the first time after the Minnesota Vikings player died in an accident in Maryland

A picture has emerged of the completely destroyed Dodge Charger that Minnesota Vikings player Khyree Jackson and two others were in when they died in a tragic car accident.

Jackson, 24, was killed along with his former high school teammates Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, and Isaiah Hazel, 23. in a three-car accident in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

His mother, Ebbony Jackson, confirmed the news to TMZ on Saturday, saying she received a call about his death in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Jackson and Hazel were both pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services, Maryland police said. Lytton was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Pictures show the completely mangled and crushed Charger being taken away from the scene of the accident by a tow truck. The rear of the flattened vehicle appears to have been completely torn off.

The accident occurred at about 3 a.m. Eastern time on Saturday when a woman named Cori Clingman, driving a silver Infinity, attempted to change lanes at a high rate of speed on Route 4, police believe.

She crashed into the Dodge Charger driven by Hazel, which Jackson and Lytton were in. The Dodge collided with another vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and strike several trees before finally coming to a stop.

Clingman had two other passengers in her vehicle at the time of the accident, while the other driver was the only occupant of his Chevrolet. No one else was injured in the accident.

Maryland police have launched an investigation into the fatal accident, believing that alcohol may have been a factor.

Hazel played at Maryland and Charlotte, while Lytton played at Florida State and Penn State.

The shocking death of cornerback Jackson occurred just under three months after he was selected by the Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Minnesota selected Jackson 108th in the fourth round after he had already completed his college career with the Oregon Ducks and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He was considered as a starter for the Vikings in the upcoming NFL season.

The Vikings, their owners Mark and Zygi Wilf and head coach Kevin O’Connell all paid their heartfelt condolences to Jackson on Saturday – with the franchise admitting it was “devastated.”

The team’s statement reads: “We are devastated to hear of the death of Khyree Jackson as a result of a car accident overnight.”

“While we work to gather more information, we have spoken with Khyree’s family and offered her the support of the Minnesota Vikings.”

“We have also communicated the news to Vikings players, coaches and staff and offered counseling for those who need emotional support.”

“Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”

Owners Mark and Zygi Wilf added: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Khyree’s death.”

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell admitted he was at a loss for words after hearing the news

“Khyree had an extremely bright future ahead of him as a player and it was clear that he was determined to be an extraordinary person who made a positive impact on the lives of others.

“Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family and friends and all members of the Minnesota Vikings after this devastating loss.”

“I am absolutely devastated by this news. Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team,” added Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.

“His confidence and engaging personality immediately attracted his teammates.”

“In the short time we spent together, it was obvious that Khyree was going to develop into a great professional football player, but even more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him.”
