Third suspect arrested in connection with Round Rock shooting

Two women were killed and 14 others injured in the shooting during a Juneteenth rally on June 15 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

ROUND ROCK, Texas —

A third suspect was arrested during the investigation into the fatal shooting This happened on June 15 in Round Rock, Texas, at the Juneteenth Festival in Old Settlers Park, according to Round Rock Police.

Keshawn Dixon, 18, was arrested and charged with deadly conduct in Killeen, Texas on Saturday and taken to the Bell County Jail.

A person can be charged with deadly conduct if he or she ““behave recklessly in a manner that places another person in imminent danger of serious bodily injury,” states the Texas Penal Code.

Round Rock police say Dixon could face additional charges.

Two women were killed and 14 others were injured in the shooting during a Juneteenth event on June 15 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Police said the incident began when two groups of people began fighting near the festival’s vendor area. At least one person then pulled out a gun and began shooting before leaving the scene.

According to police, the two women, Ara Duke and Lyndsey Vicknair, were both innocent bystanders in the shooting. The injured victims range in age from 10 to 62 years old.

Family and friends remembered Vicknair at a funeral in her North Texas hometown on June 22. Vicknair was remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend – someone who gave to her community in many ways.

Governor Greg Abbott announced that his office is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the shooting. Williamson County Crime Stoppers is also offering $5,000 and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering $5,000, bringing the total reward to $20,000.

Following Thompson’s arrest, Ara Duke’s family issued the following statement to KVUE:

“The family of Ara Duke is deeply saddened. We appreciate the efforts of the Round Rock Police Department and all other law enforcement agencies working on this case. Our family is grateful for the initial arrest and we urge anyone else involved to turn themselves in. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support the entire community has shown.”
