50-year-old man dead after head-on collision in Temecula

A 50-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision in Temecula on Friday.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Rancho California Road near the I-15 overpass.

The man, Glenmar Salcedo of Menifee, was driving a Hyundai SUV when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another car, also striking a third vehicle.

Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, Salcedo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, officials said.

Two other people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. Their condition is unknown.

“It is not believed that intoxication played a role in this collision,” the RSO statement said. “It is not yet clear why the Hyundai ended up in oncoming traffic.”
