Palmyra man arrested for drunk driving after nighttime accident

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Palmyra man following a traffic accident in the City of Palmyra. Colin J. Vanhaneghan, Route 21, was taken into custody at 1:14 a.m. on July 6.

Officers noticed the odor of alcohol on Vanhaneghan’s breath and his bloodshot, watery eyes during the investigation. He failed standardized field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of 0.11%. Vanhaneghan was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Vanhaneghan was booked into the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and released with a summons. He is scheduled to appear in Palmyra City Court at a later date to answer the charges.
