Suspect dies after domestic violence call leads to pursuit in West Jordan

A suspect is dead after being shot by police officers responding to a domestic violence incident.

The suspect, identified as Nicholas Kemp, was taken to the hospital immediately after the shooting Friday but succumbed to his injuries that same evening, West Jordan Sergeant Andrew Hercules told KUTV.

The investigation began on Friday evening after a domestic violence call turned into a police chase.

West Jordan Police were dispatched to the area of ​​8700 South and 1300 West for a report of a domestic violence incident.

As officers approached the scene, they were shot at. The suspect reportedly jumped into a vehicle and fled, with police pursuing him.

The suspect continued to fire at officers throughout the chase. The pursuit eventually ended near 9600 South and 1300 West.

The suspect was taken to hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

No officers were injured.
