How the Houston Texans Can Reach the Super Bowl in 2024

The Houston Texans have been under a lot of pressure to reach at least the Super Bowl in 2024. They have a lot to do with it, adding the most All-Pro and rookie talent we have ever seen to this franchise. This has not only caught the attention of fans around the league, but also the national media. They have created a lot of stories, with most national media outlets considering them a Super Bowl contender. So the question remains. What do the Texans need to do to reach their first-ever Super Bowl appearance?

The answer isn’t that simple. Everyone can say “play as a team” or “score points and hope your defense can hold up.” However, there’s more to it than that. Most of the players on this team are new, which is crazy to think about. When you look at the roster, the All-Pro talent they have, they recruited from outside the organization. Houston didn’t have a single All-Pro selection in 2023. Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon, and Danielle Hunter were All-Pros on their previous teams.

Despite returning a large portion of their 2023 roster, much of this team is still new and hasn’t played together. They need to build chemistry on and off the field before the season starts. We’ve seen this happen in the past, where teams buy a “champion” team and fail to do anything with it. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that’s going to happen to the Texans, but they have plenty of growth with the new players to get there.

So what does that mean they have to do? I touched on this briefly earlier. They have to build strong bonds with each other, both off the field and on the field. Super Bowl-winning teams have bonds that can never be broken off the field. Dynasties like the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots have done what they’ve been able to do because of that.

There’s a lot to like about this Texans team. On paper, they have all the pieces together to have a very, very successful team in 2024 and beyond. Once it works for them, and I have no doubt it will, they’ll be a tough team to play against on both ends of the ball.

The AFC will be tough, but the Texans have a solid offense and a talented defensive core to win those conference games. NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said recently on Rich Eisen’s talk show, “They have that type of ability. If they pick up where they left off this year, I don’t see why they can’t be one of the best offenses in the NFL, and they’ve got a lot of young pieces on defense with some stars.”
