Two people are injured and one is arrested in a 40-gun shooting in west Sparks

SPARKS, Nevada (KOLO) – A shooting Thursday night in west Sparks left 40 shell casings lost and two people suffering gunshot wounds, Sparks police said Saturday.

On Friday, 20-year-old George Garcia was arrested by police. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, as well as two counts of discharging a firearm at a building or vehicle.

Police said the incident occurred at 10:58 p.m. Thursday at the Sparks Sunrise Apartments at 2555 G. St. near the Reno border.

According to police, a 27-year-old Sparks man and his brother got into an argument with Garcia and shots were fired. Garcia had a rifle, and the other two had handguns, police said.

The 27-year-old was treated for a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening and released, police said.

Police later found Garcia at a hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Several houses in the area were hit by bullets, police said. No one was injured. Police confiscated all weapons used in the incident.

All those involved knew each other and the incident currently poses no danger to the public, police said.
