Disney issues another stay warning, guests are warned of serious risks in theme parks

Dangerous heat warnings were issued for several Disney theme parks this week.

Depending on where you are in the world, visiting Disney theme parks during the summer months can be much more strenuous than in the winter. With temperatures rising, pushing through large crowds and waiting in shadeless lines can be not only difficult but dangerous.

In recent weeks, guests at Walt Disney World Resort have been repeatedly warned about the risks of the ongoing extreme heat in Orlando. Yesterday (July 5), the heat index rose to 43 degrees in parts of Central Florida, including the two counties (Orange and Osceola) where Disney’s theme parks are located.

“This heat can affect anyone who does not take adequate precautions,” the National Weather Service said. “Take extra caution outdoors. Wear light, loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activity to early morning or evening. Take action if you notice symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.”

But this is not the only Disney resort affected by high temperatures. On July 5, additional warnings were issued for the Tokyo Disney Resort. According to The Straits TimesHeat stroke warnings are now in effect in 21 prefectures, including Chiba Prefecture in the Tokyo Disney Resort. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 35 degrees.

Japan is experiencing a nationwide increase in heatstroke cases. As of Friday, 3 p.m., 55 people aged between 23 and 90 had died in Tokyo hospitalized with suspected heat strokeOn Thursday, 99 people were hospitalized, more than ever before in one day.

Last summer was the hottest in Japan since weather records began, but authorities fear that this record could soon be broken in 2024.

Tokyo Disney Resort already goes above and beyond to make guests more comfortable during the summer, with the “Get Soaked” event running from July 2 to September 18. This is an even wetter version of Splash Mountain (which remains in its original version at the park and is not Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) specifically designed to help guests cool off during the day.

In the meantime, Baymax’s mission: cool down sees a Baymax-themed car driving through Tokyo Disneyland, spraying park guests with mist. “Baymax is tasked with increasing guests’ ‘energy levels’ and looks for areas that need cooling down while spraying guests with mist,” the Tokyo Disney Resort website states. “When an area with ‘low energy levels’ is detected, the car stops and guests can enjoy a refreshing splash of water accompanied by upbeat, lively music.”

There is also a Splash Zone in Toontown, and guests can enjoy a particularly wet experience on an Aquatopia ride at Tokyo DisneySea.

Whether it’s Tokyo Disney Resort or Disney World, anyone planning a day at a theme park this week in hot temperatures should pay close attention to the warnings and recommendations of the local authorities. Make the most of the air conditioning – and avoid long queues without shade if possible.
