4 RCMP departments involved in investigation into Lavington incident

RCMP Vernon, Kelowna, Merritt and Kamloops are investigating after the June 27 incident

The actions of officers from four neighbouring RCMP detachments are being investigated by the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) following an incident in Lavington on June 27.

The police supervisory authority is investigating the incident in which one person was seriously injured.

The IIO did not provide further details about the incident, but said RCMP officers from Vernon North Okanagan, Kelowna, Merritt and Kamloops are under investigation.

The IIO investigates all incidents involving a police officer that result in serious injury or death, regardless of whether misconduct is alleged or not, to determine whether police actions or inaction played a role in the injury or death.
