Ecuadorian wanted for rape of a minor and arrested in Boston – “an extreme threat to children”

A fugitive wanted for the rape of a child in Ecuador has been arrested in Boston. The man, described as an “extreme threat” to children, is wanted in his home country for the rape of a minor and invasion of privacy. His name was not released.

The man was arrested by deportation officials near his home in Northampton, Massachusetts, on June 12. Todd Lyons, director of ERO’s Boston field office, said, “This Ecuadorian refugee is facing some very serious charges, but instead of facing justice, he fled and attempted to find refuge in Massachusetts.”

“He posed a significant threat to the children of our community, and we cannot allow that to happen. Public safety remains our top priority by apprehending and deporting serious non-citizen offenders from New England.”

The Ecuadorian non-citizen was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol in June 2012 after illegally entering the United States near San Luis, Arizona. He received a summons to appear before an immigration judge and was released from custody.

In May 2023, authorities in Ecuador issued an arrest warrant for the man as a fugitive from justice after he was accused of raping a minor and violating privacy.
