Man dies after canoe capsizes on New Hampshire lake, authorities say

A New Hampshire man is dead after the canoe he and another man were in capsized on a lake, authorities said. New Hampshire State Police said the Marine Patrol received a report of a drowning on Lake Tarleton in Piermont around 9:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities said two men were fishing when their canoe capsized, causing both men to fall into the water. A New Hampshire man has died after the canoe he was in with another man capsized on a lake, authorities said.

New Hampshire State Police said the Marine Patrol received a report of a drowning in Lake Tarleton in Piermont around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Authorities said two men were fishing when their canoe capsized and both men fell into the water. Authorities said neither man was wearing life jackets, although they had some in the canoe.

The marine patrol said one man saw the other person lying face down in the water.

First responders attempted to perform life-saving measures on the person, who was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have identified the victim as Michael A. Johnson, 58, of Bedford.
