Ricciardo learns the fate of the race management after a bizarre incident in the pit lane

Daniel Ricciardo was cautioned by the race stewards of the British Grand Prix after an incident in the pit lane during the third free practice session

Ricciardo had to go to the race control at the beginning of the last practice session for the British Grand Prix because of a pit lane violation.

The session was red-flagged after just eight minutes after Pierre Gasly left the Silverstone circuit on the approach to Vale and his car ended up in the gravel.

When Ricciardo returned to the pits, he was seen weaving through the pit lane. Although he appeared to have his car under control, it seemed as though the Australian occasionally came dangerously close to other teams’ staff working in their garages.

Race control concluded that “there was a risk that car 3 would have come into contact with these people if it had been swerving, particularly given the wet conditions.”

Ricciardo had chosen to weave in the pit lane’s overtaking lane after being instructed by his RB team to keep the tyre temperature high, but he admitted that his behaviour “did not paint a good picture” and assured the race stewards that he would never repeat such a thing.

For Ricciardo it is the first warning this season.
