Cause of house fire in East Rockaway is under investigation

According to Nassau County police, an East Rockaway firefighter injured his ankle and a 50-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation in a house fire in the village Thursday evening.

Both the man who was in the house and the firefighter were taken to a hospital.

According to Nassau County police, an East Rockaway firefighter injured his ankle and a 50-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation in a house fire in the village Thursday evening.

Both the man who was in the house and the firefighter were taken to a hospital.

Nassau police responded to the fire, which was reported at the Adams Street home at 11:18 p.m. The fire was extinguished by the East Rockaway Fire Department, but there was significant damage to the home, according to a police news release.

The Nassau County Fire Commissioner was also on site. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
