Shark attack victim recalls moment she was attacked after video captured horrific moment blood flowing into water

Following the horrific scenes on July 4 that saw blood pour into the waters of a Texas beach as several victims were attacked by a shark, a woman is telling what happened to her.

When a video emerged of people allegedly being attacked off South Padre Island on Thursday, the dorsal fin of a shark was clearly visible.

In total, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, two people were bitten by what is believed to be the same shark and two others were injured, but fortunately all four people survived.

Among them was Tabatha Sullivent, who was “torn apart” by the beast.

On that fateful day, Sullivent swam like the other victims and initially thought the shark was a large fish.

However, when she tried to kick it away, it caught on her calf and ripped half of it off.

She told NBC affiliate KXAS-TV that the animal attacked after she threw it out: “And at that moment it bit me.

“And if I hadn’t pulled my legs up, it probably would have hit my upper body or something else.”

The mother has launched a GoFundMe campaign and admitted that her leg will never look the same again.

In her post, she explained that her husband fought off the shark and probably saved her life. He was also bitten but has since been released from the hospital.

Because of her injuries, Sullivent believes that when I get patched up, she “probably won’t have full mobility and won’t have the same leg as before. But I’m alive.”

Fortunately, she had surgery yesterday to repair as much of the damage as possible.

An update on the site said: “Her surgery went well. At this point they need to continue cleaning the wound. He wrapped the remaining muscle around the exposed bone.

“The doctor said he was confident her leg could be saved. As long as no infection occurs. He hopes to be able to do the skin graft by next Wednesday/Thursday.”

But what made things even worse was that the family was celebrating their daughter’s 15th birthday.th birthday on the beach the day they were attacked.

South Padre Island Fire Department Chief Jim Pig told CBS News that the shark responsible for the incident was “located at the south end of the island and was pushed into deeper waters.”

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said the shark was about 6 feet long and stressed that sharks do not normally attack humans and that this is usually a case of mistaken identity.

Texas Parks and Wildlife’s full statement on the incident reads: “Details at this time indicate that two people were bitten and two people came into contact with the shark but were not seriously injured.”

“The two victims who were bitten were taken to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, where one is being treated and the other was flown out for further treatment.

“Local game wardens and members of the Texas Game Warden Marine Tactical Operations Group assisted in patrolling the beach by boat and land, while DPS patrolled the area by helicopter and SPI PD and Cameron County Rangers assisted with crowd control on the beach. Additional details are unknown at this time.”
