Savannah Bananas pay tribute to Bills mob, break table during game against Buffalo

The Savannah Bananas entertained a raucous sellout crowd at Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo on Friday night, topping off a jovial evening of backflips, handsprings and acrobatics with a table break that even the Bills mob would be proud of.

We’re going to put a twist on an old saying and add a little Buffalo flavor: “When you’re in Buffalo, do as the Buffalons do,” and that’s exactly what the Bananas did, honoring Bills fans by breaking a table in the middle of their Friday game. The act of breaking a table has become synonymous with Buffalo faithful and Western New York tailgaters in recent years, almost a right of passage to becoming a member of the “Bills Mafia.”

Founded in 2016, the Bananas are a traveling baseball team that injects humor and extra entertainment options into their games; “the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball” wouldn’t be an inaccurate way to describe them. Savannah finished their Friday night game in just one hour and 29 minutes, the fastest game in team history. They will play additional games at Sahlen Field on July 6 and 7.

For Bills Mafia members who missed out on tickets to the Bananas (which are very hard to come by), there will be an additional opportunity to enjoy Bills baseball at Sahlen Field later this month when the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons host “Buffalo, Mount Up!” on July 20. Popular NFL Network personality and honorary Bills Mafia member Kyle Brandt will be in attendance, throwing out the first pitch and hosting a book signing, while the first 3,000 fans in the stadium will receive a Brandt bobblehead.
