Two dead and several injured in shootings after July 4 in Boston – NBC Boston

Two people were killed and several others injured in four shootings that broke out less than 24 hours after the Fourth of July celebrations in Boston.

The first shooting occurred on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, followed by one on Shawmut Avenue in Roxbury, another on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester, and finally on Donwood Terrace and Gladeside Street in Mattapan.

Since July 4, two people have been killed and others injured in four shootings in Boston.

The three people injured in the Jamaica Plain shooting are expected to be fine.

A man was found with gunshot wounds in the Shawmut Avenue incident. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Shortly before 6 a.m., a person was shot on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before 12:30 Friday afternoon, police found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds in a car in Mattapan. The woman is expected to survive, but the man later died.

Several violent incidents across Boston are under investigation.

There were six murders in Boston this year, compared to 20 in the same period last year.

“It is unacceptable and always devastating when we wake up in the night and see that lives have been lost in our city. In every situation, the response is quick. There is sufficient information and the BPD is following up on it,” said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

The victims have yet to be identified and there is no information on whether any arrests have been made.

All four shootings remain under investigation.
