Paediatrician Dr Ravi Prakash from Norwich charged with sexual assault

NORWICH, Connecticut – A Norwich pediatrician was arrested and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and endangering a minor, according to a Norwich police news release Friday evening.

Ravi Prakash MD of Prakash Pediatrics, 124 New London Turnpike in Norwich, was investigated by police after the department received a complaint of a sexual assault on May 2.

Police said the investigation had led to sufficient suspicion for Prakash’s arrest.

After an arrest warrant was applied for and granted, police said Prakash turned himself in to Norwich Police Department on June 28. Prakash was arrested, his case was processed, and he was assigned a court date of July 11 at Norwich Superior Court.

According to police, Prakash posted the court-set bail of $50,000 and was released from custody.

The Backus Hospital website states that Prakash attended Bangalore Medical College in India and his specialties include pediatrics, but he is in private practice and is not directly employed by the hospital.
