A New York doctor has been found guilty of sexually abusing eight patients, including minors, under the guise of medical treatment. According to the New York Post, Darius Paduch was a urologist who specialized in infertility and male reproductive health. The outlet reported that he committed the abuse from 2015 to 2019 while he was alone in the exam room with his patients.

The indictment states that he allegedly encouraged his victims to masturbate themselves. He also used sex toys and performed unnecessary rectal exams without wearing gloves.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, the 55-year-old doctor was found guilty by a jury in federal court on Wednesday on all 13 counts related to the sexual abuse of eight patients.

In a press release, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said, “As a unanimous jury has just found, Darius A. Paduch used his position of trust as a physician for his perverse gratification.” For years, patients, many of them children, seeking urgent medical care abandoned his Practice as a victim. β€œI commend the prosecutors in this office for bringing this important case to a just conclusion.”

The doctor defended himself, claiming some of his methods of touching patients were medically necessary. However, the indictment stated that they were for his sexual gratification.

After the verdict, Mallory Allen, an attorney representing his victims, said: “For nearly twenty years, patients who trusted him for their medical care and treatment were instead brutalized by his degrading, sexually violating and medically unfounded actions while he was in the hospital was.” worked, looked away.

β€œThe jury verdict in the criminal case confirms that these heinous acts will not be overlooked, and the pending civil cases will ensure that the institutions that have repeatedly put profits before their patients face consequences for their indifference in ignoring years of complaints .” Mr. Allen added.

The disgraced doctor, who has been behind bars since his arrest in April 2023, faces up to 60 years in prison when the verdict is announced. However, his lawyer Michael Baldassare said his client would appeal.

”DR. Darius Paduch has protested his innocence since the beginning of the trial. He still holds on to that today and we will continue to fight for him. β€œWe will file motions and appeals after the trial and seek all available remedies,” the lawyer said.
