Superman is arrested by Bloodsport DC for treason

Deathstroke, Bloodsport and Amazo get into a fight and Superman interrupts him in his role as Clark, knowing he is risking his personal life. Clark convinces Amazo not to be the weapon the government wants him to be. Amazo flies away, but before Clark can rest, Bloodsport has Superman arrested and charged with treason.

Superman was officially accused of treason against America

Superman reaches for the American flag

After Anthony Ivo’s attack on Metropolis in the first season of My adventures with Supermana mysterious figure began stalking the city, consuming every bit of energy it could find. Superman and his friends teamed up to find out what it was and discovered Amazo, a prototype Parasite suit designed by Ivo. But unlike Parasite, there was no one inside the Amazo suit except a sentient AI. Superman fought the suit while it tried to communicate. Unfortunately, just as Superman realized he was asking for help, Bloodsport came to be taken into the custody of the US military.

Fans may remember Superman’s classic catchphrase, which reveals what he fights for: truth, justice, and the American way. But here, Clark actually defies the “American way,” or at least that of the military, to save Amazo from being tortured and turned into a weapon. To be fair, even the Prime Superman gave it up in exchange for “a better tomorrow.” But this moment is a good example of why Superman can’t always support the “American way.” Above all else, Superman will always protect the innocent before automatically siding with a governmenteven his own.

The “American way” is not always Superman’s way

The “American Way” aspect of Superman’s catchphrase was added during World War II and simply stuck around. But truth and justice are the things Clark fights for first and foremost. Superman isn’t strictly anti-government, but he won’t allow an innocent being like Amazo to be tortured just because his country’s military decided so. Even if it means being tried for treason, it’s something Clark would do for anyone, because truth and justice are the ideals Superman has always stayed close.
